LUKEWARMNESS
What is a "
Lukewarm" Heart for Christ?
Luke Warmness = 3 Things to think about:
- Indifferent attitude - an author can write a good biography about someone he loves or even hates, but not if he is coldly indifferent to him. The problem with modern evangelism is not hostility to Christianity, but indifferent Christians.
- Neutrality - an attitude that says, "I'm a Christian but I have to live in this world, too." Not submitting to Christ is resisting Him.
- It is better not even to start - on the Christian way than to start and then drift into a meaningless Christianity. "The fire must be kept burning."
The way to maintain the spiritual glow is to live close to Christ.
Three (3) Scriptures that are hard to read, contemplate, and swallow as to
God's standards for His children. But... It is truth!
- Ezekiel 33:7-9, "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people
of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. 8 When
I say to the wicked, 'You wicked person, you will surely die,' and you do
not speak out to dissuade them from their ways, that wicked person will die
for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. 9 But if you
do warn the wicked person to turn from their ways and they do not do so,
they will die for their sin, though you yourself will be saved."
- 1 Corinthians 11:23-30, "For I received from the Lord what I also
passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread,
24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body,
which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." 25 In the same way, after
supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood;
do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." 26 For whenever you
eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he
comes. 27 So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord
in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood
of the Lord. 28 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the
bread and drink from the cup. 29 For those who eat and drink without
discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. 30
That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have
fallen asleep."
- Hebrews 10:26-29, If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have
received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but
only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume
the enemies of God. 28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without
mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much more severely
do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of
God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant
that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
Thank God... Thank Jesus... for God's grace and mercy on us!
