TAKING CARE OF THE ELDERLY - WHAT DOES IT ENTAIL?

Well, this is where "America is not so great!"

Other cultures:
  • Families (Sons and Daughters) take in their elderly parents/grandparents.
  • Make sure their needs are met.
  • Respect for the elderly is prevalent.
  • Most of the Sons and daughters never talk back to their parents/grandparents.
  • Many don't even know about the Scripture found in 1 Timothy. It's bred into them.

America... Today:
  • Children (grown adults) think the parents are responsible for their education, their needs, and their welfare.
  • Many are 26-30 years old living with their parents.
  • Parents are enablers. They pay for even their insurance until they are 26.
  • Grandchildren hardly ever call grandparents.
  • Many never think about what they can do for their parents/grandparents.
  • There is very little respect for the elderly after the teenagers enter college... sometimes even before.
  • The cost for insurance, the Medicare the millenials have to pay being told they probably will never receive a penny of it.
    • Why wouldn't they just want the elderly to fend for themselves.
    • Why should we pay for their insurance when they are the ones that are costing the taxpayers... me... the taxpayer.
  • Many are selfish and look out for #1... themselves.
    • Never thinking about what the Word of God says about respect for the elderly and the responsibility of taking care of the ones who brought you into the world.

The American parents have become enablers of the able... and the able are showing no respect at all for the parents who give them everything... wanting to be their "friend" and giving in to all of their pity parties. "Good Time Charlie" is the norm for the American millennial.

WE ARE IN TROUBLE AND WE ARE ENABLING OUR OFF-SPRING TO BE "TAKERS" INSTEAD OF "GIVERS."

Let's turn it around in America. Let's do some things to turn it around.
What are they?
Pray more, Say more, Pay more:
  • Pray more =
    • On our knees at home
    • Praying in the Spirit when we are driving
    • Let our children and grandchildren know we are praying for them. Be positive... not negative.
    • Let our church know when our children and grandchildren need prayer. Don't wait until something happens... Be proactive!
  • Say more =
    • Give heed to the Spirit's prompting.
    • Say what you mean to your children and family. Be positive, congenial, and loving.
    • Whatever you do, let your children/family know you love them. It is not hard... just do it! Let them know without a doubt you pray for them and you will back them when they are in the Lord's will... or seeking to know what the Lord's will is for their lives.
    • Don't leave regrets on the table. Today is the day of salvation.
  • Pay more =
    • I'm not talking about money... necessarily.
    • Pay more attention to family needs... spiritual as well as needs for their survival in a world that is out to get our children. Satan runs around seeking whom he may devour. Let us thwart the enemy's tactics. Come against Satan with all the spiritual gusto you can stir up within your spirit.
    • Pay more time to long-term prayer. Give up some of the things that keep us busy. As you prepare yourself to meet God, prepare yourself to war against those that try to seduce your children and family members.
    • Pay more attention to others' needs. Be a mentor, prayer warrior, and a friend who sticks closer that a brother. Be attentive and available to pray and to see that others' seek wise counsel when life challenges are evident.

LAST: VOTE POLITICIANS TO GOVERNMENT POSITIONS WHO LOVE GOD, COUNTRY, AND FAMILY. VOTE THOSE IN WHO HOLD TO GODLY PRINCIPLES AND KNOW WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS CONCERNING LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.
